La citt\u00e0 infinita is a performance of constructive play that uses industrial waste to create and recreate urban spaces.
The \u201cbricks\u201d to build the city are polished and tactile wooden objects, of various shapes and sizes. With these game pieces and the children\u2019s creativity, it is possible to design anything: their homes, large public works and above all roads that connect the participants, allowing the meeting and exchange of ideas between all, giving life to a potentially infinite game.
The great diversity of pieces plays an important role in the constructive game, increasing the potential for possible combinations and combinations, fueling fantasy and imagination in the design of the city.
Using the universal language of creativity and manual skills, each group of participants models their own infinite city, developing a unique and unrepeatable project.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

La citt\u00e0 infinita is a participatory performance, a collective work that takes its form dynamically through cooperation between all participants: children, young people and adults collaborate together to build a city according to the aspirations and abilities of each one.
The interaction of adults with children generates very exciting synergies. The creativity of children supported by the skills of adults can result in architectural projects and artistic installations of great visual impact.

Special waste, semi-worked and unfinished, little conditioned by previous uses and meanings, and which are offered to the free interpretation of the participants of the game.\nMaterials that have lost their commercial value recover a new meaning and new values ??within the creative and cultural context of this performance.\nThrough the game, a waste becomes a resource, finds new life and new functionalities. Children and young people, who by nature are inclined to live the experience without conditioning, contact the objects in an empathetic and emotional way, and transform their meaning, giving it a new one, whatever they themselves want to suggest.\nA simple play space that can teach, especially to the new generations, another way of caring for the environment and building the future. The beginning of the game<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

The creative work begins with an introduction to the game.<\/p>

  • The construction of the city begins from the most intimate and familiar place: the house. In this way, the participants discover the pieces of the game and begin to experience the city. To build their own house, a certain number of pieces can be chosen. This rule will facilitate the phase of exploring the materials and directs, especially children, towards a more attentive and profound selection of pieces. <\/li>
  • Then, it is suggested that through roads, bridges, tunnels and motorways, the inhabitants of the city can meet, creating a path that unites them. Each one has a neighbor to get to know, with whom they share a territory and with whom they can begin to design a constructive path in common. Together they can decide which public works to build, an architecture at the service of all: a park, a cinema, a theatre, a school, a hospital… using all the material they need. <\/li><\/ul>

    At this stage of the game, the city becomes a place of relationships, exchange and dialogue. The value of cooperation begins to circulate, to vibrate, gradually transforming the soul of the city and its inhabitants.

    \n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tThe stage space is simple and basic, but its visual impact is very strong. The performance play space is delimited by the construction material. From 500 to 1000 kg of small \u201cbricks\u201d, placed inside the containers aligned around the construction surface.\nAn essential element of the performance are the \u201ccity lights\u201d: a very long LED light hose that extends across the entire playing surface, forming soft curves and giving the space a warm atmosphere. To achieve a stronger visual impact with these lights, the space is partially darkened.\nOn the walls of the space, clouds in constant movement are projected that symbolize the infinite sky of the city.\nThe performance atmosphere is enriched with a musical accompaniment that isolates from external noises, facilitates the concentration of the participants and invites to the rhythm.\nAll these aesthetic elements contribute to creating a relaxed, constructive environment that many children define as magical. \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

    Since 2008, the infinite city has built hundreds of cities, each with its own identity. During the various stages, the performance has transformed people and spaces thanks to the values ??it works with and the positive experiences it generates. It has been in museums, schools, festivals and European projects but, above all, it has made thousands of families, children and young people build and cooperate.
    The first nucleus of the infinite city was born in Italy from the hands of its creator, Mao Fusina. To this day, the performance has already traveled to prestigious places such as the Triennale and the Museo del ‘900 (Milan), the Bimpa (children’s museum in Palermo), the Festival della Creativit\u00e0 (Florence), the Tocat\u00ec Festival (Verona) and continues to travel.
    In 2014 the performance arrives in Spain thanks to the work of Roberta Genova. La citt\u00e0 infinita has begun to circulate and build relationships in the province of Barcelona, ??letting hundreds of children and their families play, spreading its principles and values ??even in schools and universities.
